A Summer Like No Other

December 2020 was a summer like no other…restrictions on festivities, curfews, the closure of beaches…

This body of work is a response to the heat and freedom of long, colourful December days - a wistful yearning for normal summer holidays - where a good time can be had at any moment – and freedom of movement and access is a given.

The use of dress pattern iconography accentuates the divide – the space between the bather and the deep blue sea. As we find ourselves in this new world where we are prevented from visiting our beloved beaches - the beach and water take on an almost like forbidden fruit appeal.

Indeed a very strange summer we find ourselves in, reminding us to never take anything for granted.
